Rossi e Catelli is one of the initiatives to be planned and realized as part of a large integrated urban-wide project promoted by Parma Municipality and developed within the Parma Social House Fund. The complex consists of 3 blocks connected by walkways and bridges. The buildings, which are six storeys tall, contain a total of 98 dwellings, in addition to garages, cellars and technical spaces in the basement. Among the specific characteristics of the project are communal and private gardens, children’s play areas, study and recreation areas for young people as well as three communal shared spaces, one of which is equipped for use as a kitchen.

The orientation of the buildings creates protected open spaces and pleasant views of the surrounding countryside, which is characterised by poplar trees. The internal courtyard, designed to host open-air activities, is opened onto by the walkways that connect the buildings and the large private loggias, a system of paths that creates opportunities to share and meet and which makes it easier for the residents to keep watch over the public use areas. The exteriors are further animated by the use of colour that identifies and brings to the fore the different styles and types of dwellings.

With the establishment of the Social Manager, whose training process included the residents’ cooperatives taking part, came one of the first examples on the territory of an integrated model for building management that includes the active participation of the residents.
